Syrian Healthtech Startup Alo Hakeem Raises $165,000 to Expand Home Healthcare

Admin Admin October 18, 2026

Syrian healthtech startup Alo Hakeem has raised $165,000 in a pre-seed funding round led by EBLA Ventures, marking an early step in its efforts to expand access to home healthcare services across Syria. The round also included other investors whose identities were not disclosed. The company has not revealed its valuation.

Founded in 2025 by Abdullatif Al-Baroudi and Albaraa Abdulsalam, the Aleppo-based startup connects patients and families with licensed healthcare professionals who provide medical services at home. The new capital will support the development of its technology infrastructure, expansion of its healthcare provider network and team, and the transition from its minimum viable product (MVP) to a full mobile application, scheduled for public launch in November 2026.

The investment comes as digital health solutions seek to address persistent barriers to healthcare access in Syria. For Alo Hakeem, however, the challenge extends beyond developing an application: its long-term prospects will depend on whether it can build a reliable network of providers, maintain service quality and establish a sustainable operating model in a complex healthcare environment.

Addressing the Challenges of Home Healthcare

Alo Hakeem offers a range of services, including home medical consultations, nursing, physiotherapy, elderly care, laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging. Through its platform, patients can connect with healthcare professionals and coordinate appointments through digital channels and customer support.

The model addresses a practical problem for patients who may struggle to access appropriate care outside traditional medical facilities. Home-based services can be particularly valuable for older people, patients with limited mobility and families seeking follow-up care without repeated hospital visits.

In Syria, where healthcare access can be affected by infrastructure constraints, geographical disparities and pressure on medical services, coordinating care outside hospitals may offer meaningful benefits. A digital platform can potentially reduce the effort required to identify providers, arrange appointments and organise services.

Yet technology alone cannot resolve the structural challenges facing healthcare delivery. The availability of qualified professionals, the geographical distribution of providers, transportation, equipment and the affordability of treatment all influence whether home healthcare can reach patients consistently.

Alo Hakeem's opportunity therefore lies not simply in digitising appointment booking, but in building a dependable system that connects patient demand with available medical capacity.

From an Early Product to a Scalable Platform

The startup initially financed its operations independently, developing a minimum viable product and testing its service model through direct engagement with patients and medical professionals. It also participated in the ScaleUp 2025 programme and received mentorship through ChangeMakers, run by Maynger Ventures, and Thimar, an initiative supporting Syrian startups preparing for investment.

This early development phase is important because healthcare platforms must establish trust before they can scale. Patients need confidence in the qualifications of professionals, the reliability of appointments and the quality of care delivered. Healthcare providers, meanwhile, need a system that generates worthwhile opportunities without creating excessive administrative work.

The planned November 2026 launch of Alo Hakeem's full mobile application represents a transition from an initial service model toward a more developed digital infrastructure.

The new funding is expected to support this transition, alongside improvements to the technology platform and expansion of the company's team and provider network. A more integrated application could streamline the patient journey and improve coordination between patients and healthcare professionals.

However, the transition from an MVP to a full application should be viewed as a milestone rather than proof of product-market fit. Sustained adoption will depend on whether the platform solves problems that patients and providers encounter frequently enough to justify continued use.

Expansion Beyond Aleppo, Damascus and Hama

Alo Hakeem currently operates in Aleppo, Damascus and Hama, with plans to expand into four additional Syrian governorates by the end of 2027.

Geographical expansion could increase the company's addressable market and help establish a broader network for coordinating home healthcare. Nevertheless, expanding across Syria is unlikely to be a simple process of replicating the same technology in new locations.

Each market requires sufficient numbers of licensed providers, reliable service coordination and an understanding of local demand and purchasing power. Services such as laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging also require additional operational arrangements that differ from those needed for a medical consultation or physiotherapy appointment.

For this reason, the quality and density of the provider network may prove more important than the number of governorates covered. Expanding too quickly without sufficient local capacity could undermine the consistency of the service, while a more gradual approach could help the company refine its operations before entering additional markets.

EBLA Ventures and the Development of Syria's Startup Ecosystem

The pre-seed round was led by EBLA Ventures, which invests in and supports Syrian entrepreneurs and had worked with Alo Hakeem during its early development and investment preparation.

For an early-stage healthtech company, external capital can provide more than immediate funding. It can create room to develop technology, recruit staff, strengthen operations and prepare for future investment. Mentorship and investor networks may also help founders navigate the commercial challenges of building a business in an uncertain environment.

At the same time, the undisclosed identities of the other investors and the absence of publicly available valuation details limit the extent to which the round can be assessed financially. The $165,000 investment should be understood as early-stage capital intended to support product development and initial expansion, rather than evidence that the company has already achieved large-scale commercial traction.

Its significance will ultimately depend on what the funding enables Alo Hakeem to accomplish.

The Road Ahead

Alo Hakeem enters its next phase with three closely connected priorities: launching its full mobile application, strengthening its network of licensed healthcare professionals and expanding its geographical reach.

The company's progress will be better measured by operational outcomes than by technology milestones alone. Relevant indicators include patient adoption, repeat bookings, provider retention, service reliability and the ability to deliver care at prices patients can afford.

If Alo Hakeem can combine a dependable provider network with effective digital coordination, it could help make home healthcare more accessible while creating a structured channel for healthcare professionals to reach patients.

The $165,000 pre-seed round provides an initial foundation for that ambition. Whether the startup can turn it into a scalable business will depend on its ability to balance expansion with clinical reliability, affordability and operational discipline—factors that are particularly important in Syria's challenging healthcare environment.
